The MoeGamer Top 10 of 2020

It’s New Year’s Eve! In fact, as I type this, it’s New Year’s Day in some places around the world, so if that’s the case, uh, happy new year, and I hope 2021 looks better than the rancid 12 months we’ve all just endured.

As is tradition for video gaming-related websites, it is obligatory for me to declare some sort of “game of the year” before 2020 ends, and as I’m someone who likes to be awkward and do things differently, I am counting “games of 2020” as “games I played and/or covered on MoeGamer in 2020” rather than necessarily “games that released in 2020”. My site, my rules — but hopefully you’ll find some fun things to check out along the way!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a restful holiday season and found yourself with some nice gifts… or at least some nice vouchers or cold, hard cash with which to treat yourselves!

With the world being as it is, we had a pretty quiet Christmas here, but it was still nice. We opened presents, had a nice dinner and then just chilled out for the rest of the day. Exactly what a good Christmas should be, so far as I’m concerned — no stress, no arguments, no rushing around, and lots of Sega Dreamcast.

There’s still been stuff happening on the site and over on YouTube, though, so let’s take a look at what you might have missed this week!

Good morning everyone! I have a podcast to edit, but I thought I’d get this done before I spend all day editing and end up too exhausted to write anything coherent at 11pm. So here we are!

It’s been a pretty eventful week for world events, huh? And I suspect the chaos isn’t quite over as yet, but at least things are moving along in one way or another. I’d like to remind everyone that you’re all welcome here if you want a break from the barrage of noise that is the rest of the Internet; I’m just here to talk about good ol’ video games, so come hang out and chat about what I’ve been writing about this week!

Hello everyone! It’s the end of another week, or the beginning of another one, depending on how you look at it, and thus it’s time for the weekly roundup!

I’ve got one more week of the day job before a blissful week off. Hopefully my Evercade retro gaming handheld from Blaze will arrive in time for that, because you can expect a bunch of in-depth coverage on that system and its games once it’s in my hands! The Atelier MegaFeature will, of course, continue, but my intention is to provide detailed writeups on each and every one of the games available for Evercade — because in all cases, they’re relevant to all enthusiasts of gaming, not just those picking up the new system.

Anyway, that’s something to think about when we get to it. For now, we’ve got a week’s worth of happy funtimes to get through. So hit the jump and let’s get started!

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! I’ve just enjoyed my final lie-in of my week off from the day job… not looking forward to going back to getting up when the first digit on the clock is 6. Ugh.

A Very Merry Christmas (2019 Edition)

It’s Christmas! And with that in mind, there’s nothing too substantial coming up on the site today — there is an episode of Warriors Wednesday currently rendering, though, so please look forward to that.

It’s been a wonderful year for both MoeGamer and my YouTube channel, and I wanted to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you reading this, because if you are reading this, chances are that on at least one occasion during the course of the last year, you’ve read something else on this site, watched a video or otherwise helped me out with one of my various creative projects. And for that, I’m massively grateful.

Since it’s obligatory to reflect on the year just passed and the upcoming year when doing this sort of thing, join me after the jump and we’ll do just that.

Good morning! Apologies this is a little later than usual — the majority of my weekend was taken up with podcast recording and editing. We’ve got a beast of an episode coming up for you later today.

Christmas is once again creeping up on us, but thankfully thanks to the magic of online shopping, I’m already done with buying presents.

That, of course, means plenty of time for enjoying a variety of wonderful games, and celebrating many of the delightful experiences I’ve had over the last year. That is the thinking behind The MoeGamer 2019 Awards, the third year in which I’ve thought up a variety of “alternative awards” (in collaboration with the community) to celebrate the things I’ve played and/or covered in the last year.
