The MoeGamer Podcast: Episode 19 – Best of Battling

Good afternoon! Welcome, once again, to The MoeGamer Podcast, featuring a pair of shamelessly pants-free games enthusiasts: myself, and the good Mr Chris Caskie of MrGilderPixels.

The MoeGamer Podcast is available in several places. You can subscribe to my channel on YouTube to stay up to date with both the video versions of the podcast and my weekly videos (including the Atari A to Z retro gaming series); you can follow on Soundcloud for the audio-only version of the podcast; you can subscribe via RSS to get the audio-only version of the podcast in your favourite podcast app; or you can subscribe via iTunes. Please do at least one of these if you can; it really helps us out!

Or you can hit the jump to watch or listen to today’s episode right here on MoeGamer.

In today’s episode, Chris and I have a ton of news to talk about, including a discussion of our mutual distaste for the supposed “future of gaming”, Google Stadia and Apple Arcade.

As always, we also chat about what we’ve been playing recently. Chris has been diving head-first into the Kingdom Hearts series with its chronological first installment, Birth By Sleep, while I’ve been having fun with the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection.

Today’s main topic revolves around some of our favourite RPG battle systems. We’ve got a fair few between us, including current Cover Game Death end re;Quest, Omega Quintet, Grandia, Blue Reflection, Legend of Legaia, Xenogears, Xenosaga, Shadow Hearts and plenty more besides.

If you enjoy the podcast, please be sure to tell your friends about it, leave a Like on YouTube and/or Soundcloud and all that good stuff. Chris and I have been at this for nearly a full year now — the original pilot episode was on April 24 of 2018 — and it’s always been a delight to hear from people who appreciate our particular brand of discussion, so please also feel free to drop us a comment here, on YouTube or on Soundcloud!

The MoeGamer Compendium, Volume 1 is now available! Grab a copy today for a beautiful physical edition of the Cover Game features originally published in 2016.

Thanks for reading; I hope you enjoyed this article. I’ve been writing about games in one form or another since the days of the old Atari computers, with work published in Page 6/New Atari User, PC Zone, the UK Official Nintendo Magazine, GamePro, IGN, USgamer, Glixel and more over the years, and I love what I do.
