An extremely silly comedy eroge about what might happen if aliens crash-landed on Earth and accidentally rewrote the brains of everyone in Japan to accept an American-style presidential system. With, naturally, a pretty young girl (who just happens to be your childhood friend) at the helm.

The MoeGamer 2019 Awards: Ten Years, Ten VNs-The MoeGamer Awards are a series of “alternative” awards I’ve devised in collaboration with the community to celebrate the sorts of things that never get celebrated in end-of-year roundups! Find out more here — and feel free to leave a suggestion on that post if you have any good ideas! – It’s nearly the end of a … Continue reading The MoeGamer 2019 Awards: Ten Years, Ten VNs→
The “Build a Harem” Tag-It’s been a while since a Community tag post, so let’s let our hair down a bit, since the ever-charming Raistlin was kind enough to nominate me with some very nice words! This particular tag originated from Cactus Matt over at the excellent Anime Q and A blog — he’s a frequent collaborator with a … Continue reading The “Build a Harem” Tag→
The One-Liner Challenge-Time for a Community tag post! This one looked like a particularly fun one, and after the lovely Irina from I Drink and Watch Anime specifically requested me to do one about games, who was I to refuse? The original tag came from The Awkward Book Blogger and was based around, as you might expect, … Continue reading The One-Liner Challenge→
From the Archives: Embracing the “H”-Sex. Yes, that was entirely a cheap trick to get your attention, but it’s also the subject of today’s column. There are some interesting and varied thoughts about sex in games out there, but it’s a subject that still remains largely taboo for many developers, publishers and even critics. It’s also a subject in which … Continue reading From the Archives: Embracing the “H”→
From the Archives: Culture Shock-One of the things video games are particularly good at as an entire medium is allowing you to immerse yourself in… things. Exactly what you’re able to immerse yourself in depends entirely on the game — in Microsoft Flight Simulator you can immerse yourself in a realistic depiction of what it is like to fly a … Continue reading From the Archives: Culture Shock→
Waifus I Have Loved-As Valentine’s Day rolls around once again, I find myself keenly aware that not everyone in this world is fortunate enough to be blessed with a partner, lover, spouse or otherwise significant other as understanding, tolerant and patient as my good wife. At times like this, a man often turns to solace in the arms … Continue reading Waifus I Have Loved→
From the Archives: Why Do We Play?-A philosophical question for you today, prompted by a thought-provoking discussion I had with a friend the other evening. It’s a particularly interesting question with regard to visual novels, which are regarded by some as not being “games” in the traditionally-understood sense, but it also applies to the interactive entertainment medium as a whole. The … Continue reading From the Archives: Why Do We Play?→
The Rusian Fairy and the Chivalrous Pervert-In the strange and twisted world that forms the setting for Alcot’s comedy visual novel My Girlfriend is the President, Irina Putina is the Rusian [sic] president who shows up early in the game’s (fixed) first act and then sticks around for varying amounts of time in the remaining three, depending on which route you chose. She’s … Continue reading The Rusian Fairy and the Chivalrous Pervert→
I Lost My Heart to a Starship-Ell, or Starship Ezekiel to give her her full name — yes, she really is a starship — is the resident “cute” character amid the cast of Alcot’s comedy visual novel My Girlfriend is the President. My Girlfriend is the President tells an eminently silly story about how the protagonist Junichiro’s childhood friend Yukino becomes, through a series of … Continue reading I Lost My Heart to a Starship→

My Girlfriend is the President
Irina’s “taming” of protagonist Junichiro is one of the most interesting things about her path.
It’s all worth it in the end; Irina and Jun’s relationship is fraught with trials and pitfalls, but they come out of the experiences a lot stronger for them.
Irina is a confident character, but one who doesn’t suffer fools gladly.
My Girlfriend is the President
Ell’s more than just cute, though; she can be a badass when it counts.
If your heart doesn’t explode at this scene, you are a stronger person than I.
