Happy Sunday evening everyone! One of the worst parts of the week, when you know Monday is just around the corner, thereby meaning that you can’t really justify staying up all night playing video games or something.

Still, if you want something to take your mind off the impending drudgery of the working week, I’ve got you covered as always. There’s been some really great stuff this week that I’ve been delighted and excited to cover, so I hope you enjoy them.

So, then, without further ado, let’s review! That rhymes.

Happy New Year! (2020 Edition)

A very merry new year to all of you! I hope you had at least vaguely tolerable celebrations last night and that you aren’t suffering too much today.

I had a nice quiet one; I’ve never been one for big parties or anything, so the prospect of being out and about on a night where people are particularly inclined to get drunk and obnoxious was not in the slightest bit appealing. So I sat at home with my cats playing games, recording a few videos and enjoying a Chinese takeaway. Perfect.

Anyway, what with it being the first day of the new year, now seems like a prime time to talk about my intentions for the year coming up, so let’s do just that after the jump!

Christmas is once again creeping up on us, but thankfully thanks to the magic of online shopping, I’m already done with buying presents.

That, of course, means plenty of time for enjoying a variety of wonderful games, and celebrating many of the delightful experiences I’ve had over the last year. That is the thinking behind The MoeGamer 2019 Awardsthe third year in which I’ve thought up a variety of “alternative awards” (in collaboration with the community) to celebrate the things I’ve played and/or covered in the last year.

And, because I wanted to both play it and write about it, we’re interspersing the awards with a look at Pokémon Sword and Shield. Lots to be getting on with, so let’s check out what you might have missed this week.

Hello everyone! It’s nearly the end of November; hard to imagine that we’re nearly in to a new decade already, isn’t it?

Still, keep tackling things one week at a time and we’ll get there eventually. As much as it feels like we might not want to sometimes. Remember, as bleak and shitty as the world might be, there are always video games, anime, manga, music and all manner of other wonderful forms of art and creative expression to escape into when it all gets a bit much.

And if you’re in the mood for a bit of escapism right now, why not delve into what you might have missed in the last week or so? Let’s take a look.

I Want Your Help With the MoeGamer 2019 Awards!

For the last couple of years, I’ve devoted December to a series of “alternative awards” based on things I’ve experienced and written about over the course of the last year.

The MoeGamer Awards provides both me and you with an opportunity to review what we’ve seen in the last year here on MoeGamer, to revisit some things that I feel are worth looking at again, and to highlight some things that I don’t feel got enough attention first time around.

A big part of the fun of this event is getting suggestions from you lot as to what I should write about, so I am once again soliciting suggestions from you, yes, you, dear reader. Hit the jump to find out more!

Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing well.

The wife and I have been having a troublesome few months. Our hob went, our roof leaked, our cats had fleas and yesterday our washing machine broke. Thankfully all but the latter of these have now been resolved (at varying levels of expense) but as I type this, the wife is in search of a suitable replacement washing machine to go in our awkwardly shaped gap.

But you don’t need to know all that, really. You’re here to find out what you might have missed in the last week or so, right? Read on, then…

Late again! Apologies. But I was up until 11.30pm last night editing the newest episode of The MoeGamer Podcast (coming later today!) so hopefully you’ll forgive me.

It was an interesting week last week, for sure! A lot of people were very keen on my article about respecting one another’s tastes, and this was really gratifying and encouraging to see. I know I’m not the only one who’s absolutely sick of low-effort reviews wasting everyone’s time; small-scale, niche-interest titles deserve respect as much as big-budget triple-A stuff — more so in many cases, in my experience — so it’s always depressing to see when a big, usually respectable publication shits out something as distasteful as what we saw this week.

But oh well. We can but try to make the world a better place by being the change we want to see in it. That’s certainly what I strive to do, so please, pull up a chair and check out what you might have missed in the last week!

Hello everyone! Sorry this is much later than it usually is (again), but I’ve been keeping myself quite busy!

I’m just starting a week off from the day job, which you think would mean I have lots of time to spare… but I’ve set most of the time aside for getting well ahead of schedule on video series and articles, and as such I’ve spent the majority of today researching material for upcoming Atari A to Z videos!

That doesn’t mean there’s no time for the usual fun and games around here, mind, so let’s have a look at what you might have missed in the last week.

It’s the end of another week as we head onward into springtime, and I hope you’ve had a good one!

This week has seen the release of Konami’s Castlevania Anniversary Collection on various platforms, which I’ve been very excited about for some time now. I wish there was a packaged release of it, but I can’t complain too much at the value the download version offers. Watch out for some Castlevania-related articles in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, let’s have a look back over the week that was and see what you might have missed.

Waifu Wednesday: Yumi

You all seemed to enjoy getting to know MoeGamer site mascot Midori last week, so it’s high time we gave her best friend Yumi the opportunity to introduce herself.

Yumi, like Midori, has been part of MoeGamer since the very beginning in one form or another, and also appeared in the GameCast.

She doesn’t speak a lot of English, however, so Midori will be joining us to assist where necessary. Let’s see how this goes…
