Hello everyone! It’s been a hectic week for me this week, to say the least.
My wife Andie was rushed into hospital with suspected appendicitis early in the week, and then I came down with… something or other as a result of the stress of the whole situation combined with regular visits to A Place Full of Ill People.
Thankfully, Andie’s back home now and I think I’m mostly on the mend… so let’s take a moment to review what’s been going on this week!

Well, we’ve covered all the other “main” waifus Ramius, Riche and Gurigura from Evenicle so far, so it’s only fair we give Kathryn some love too!
Kathryn is the last playable character to join protagonist Aster’s family, and she is, for sure, an interesting one — both from a narrative and a mechanical perspective.
Let’s just say that you should probably approach with a certain degree of caution.

Between the ten different waifus in Evenicle, there’s someone who will appeal to everyone.
Hell, there’s pretty much someone who will appeal to everyone even within the core playable cast of four. And even if someone isn’t your “type”, there are still plenty of interesting and compelling things to discover about them.
As a loud, noisy loli, Gurigura isn’t the type of girl who usually pushes my buttons. But she definitely grew on me over the course of the game, and I came to regard her with a great deal of affection.

Hello friends, and welcome to another installment of The MoeGamer Podcast!
After our fairly serious discussion last week, Chris and I decided we wanted to keep things reasonably bright and breezy this week, so it’s a mostly retro-themed episode as we reminisce about our memories of classic Konami.
Hit the jump for the new episode in video and audio format, and don’t forget you can subscribe on YouTube for all my videos (including Atari A to Z as well as MoeGamer content) or on Soundcloud for the audio-only version of the podcast. You can also get the audio-only version via iTunes or RSS. I’m good to you, I am.

Hello everyone! It’s the weekend again, so hurrah for that.
Chris and I have spent the afternoon recording a new episode of the MoeGamer Podcast, so watch out for that on Monday, all being well. This episode’s subject is classic Konami — we had great fun recording this one, so we hope you enjoy listening!
As always, there’s been a bunch of happening on the site and around my other projects this week, so hit the jump and catch up on anything you might have missed.

In honour of the end of our Evenicle slightly-longer-than-a-month — and of today’s surprise announcement that Evenicle is now available on Steam — I thought it was high time we highlighted another of the game’s wonderful wives.
Riche is one of the first characters you meet in the game, and she sticks by your side pretty much for the entire duration, giving you plenty of time to get to know her: who she is, why she is the way she is, why she’s doing what she’s doing and… uh… what she’s “into”, if you catch my meaning.
Let’s take a closer look at one of the most memorable princesses I’ve had the pleasure of fighting alongside for quite some time…

Eroge tend to find themselves in a difficult position, with their reputation of being “porn” being a largely contributing factor as to why they rarely get any mainstream recognition.
This is unfortunate, because as we’ve already seen with visual novels like Frontwing’s Grisaia series and the RPGs in AliceSoft’s Rance series, having 18+ content most certainly does not mean that a work has nothing to say.
On the contrary, the freedom to be as “adult” as you like brings with it the opportunity to explore interesting, mature and thought-provoking themes as well as just sexual content. And such is the case with Evenicle, one of AliceSoft’s strongest games to date, both from mechanical and story perspectives. Let’s take a closer look at its overall narrative.
