Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing well.

The wife and I have been having a troublesome few months. Our hob went, our roof leaked, our cats had fleas and yesterday our washing machine broke. Thankfully all but the latter of these have now been resolved (at varying levels of expense) but as I type this, the wife is in search of a suitable replacement washing machine to go in our awkwardly shaped gap.

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve had a good weekend. Mine has been pretty quiet and dull.

I’ve been a bit bummed out by some rather negative happenings in the retro gaming community recently; thankfully none of them have involved me, but they do involve a creator I like very much and support on Patreon. You can read more about that elsewhere, though — I might even pen something about it myself next week depending on how things go.

Hello again everyone! It’s the end of another week, and here in the UK the weather has finally switched gears from “blazing hot sunshine” to “torrential downpours”, with no intermediate steps. To be honest, I prefer the latter.

So what’s been going on this week? Lots of things! Before I talk about anything else, I’d just like to mention that I’ve started using Instagram a lot more, primarily to post short clips from my YouTube vids but also to point people in the direction of some of the articles here. I’m also putting most of these posts on Twitter, but Instagram has a different audience so if you’re on there and not on Twitter — or, hell, even if you are — please do give me a follow at @moegamerpete. Late again! Apologies. But I was up until 11.30pm last night editing the newest episode of The MoeGamer Podcast (coming later today!) so hopefully you’ll forgive me.

It was an interesting week last week, for sure! A lot of people were very keen on my article about respecting one another’s tastes, and this was really gratifying and encouraging to see. I know I’m not the only one who’s absolutely sick of low-effort reviews wasting everyone’s time; small-scale, niche-interest titles deserve respect as much as big-budget triple-A stuff — more so in many cases, in my experience — so it’s always depressing to see when a big, usually respectable publication shits out something as distasteful as what we saw this week.

But oh well. We can but try to make the world a better place by being the change we want to see in it. That’s certainly what I strive to do, so please, pull up a chair and check out what you might have missed in the last week!

Hello everyone, apologies that this is a day later than usual, but the weekend was… trying, to say the least.

On the positive side, we recorded a new episode of The MoeGamer Podcast, which should be with you later today on both YouTube and Soundcloud, so please look forward to that; it was a very enjoyable discussion. On the unpleasant side, however, the news of independent games developer Alec Holowka’s passing and the circumstances surrounding his death had a fair amount of emotional resonance for me. I won’t get into the details of that right now, as it’s still a somewhat contentious issue, but I’ll just say that my thoughts and sympathies are with those who were close to Alec at this difficult time.

Anyway. Let’s turn our attention to cheerier things and have a look at what you might have missed last week.

Goodness me, the last couple of weeks have been some of MoeGamer’s best for a long time in terms of visitors. So a hearty “welcome” if you’re new around here!

I’m delighted that so many new people have come along to see what I’m up to; I’m perhaps less delighted about the circumstances which prompted such an influx of readers — as you’ll find out more about shortly — but at the very least, I hope those new readers have found a place where they can enjoy their favourite things without judgement or censure.

As you’ll know if you’ve been following for a while, I don’t have any great grand plans for MoeGamer to be a one-stop daily gaming resource — I don’t really do “news”, for example — but I do make a point of, at the very least, taking titles the mainstream press have treated like crap and giving them the respect they deserve. Happy Sunday everyone! Apologies for the quietness of the weekend just passed (including a lack of an Atari A to Z Flashback video) — I spent yesterday at Digitiser Live in London, so didn’t have much time to do anything else!

And so, another week draws to a close, as Death idly sharpens his scythe, sighs (quite an achievement without any lungs) and goes back to watching the sands of time trickle away, one grain at a time.

Happy weekend! And happy holidays to me!

Yes, for the next week I’m officially on holiday from the day job, and the wife and I are taking a nice trip to Center Parcs to rest, relax and possibly look at some owls.
