Around the Network

Morning everyone! Wasn’t feeling too hot this weekend just gone (still not feeling too hot, to be honest) so this kind of slipped my mind, but here we are now!

You may have noticed a few “From the Archives” posts popping up this week. This is due to the recent news that the entire staff of my former place of employment, USgamer, has been laid off, and the future of the site is uncertain. With that in mind, I wanted to ensure that I preserved some of the pieces I wrote during my time there that I was most pleased with — and which are still relevant.

You’ll see more of these in the coming weeks and months, so keep an eye out for them, especially if you missed them first time around! In the meantime, let’s check out what you might have missed in the last week.

Hello everyone! Hope you’re having as pleasant a weekend as can be had in these trying times.

Here in the UK, we’re about to enter a second “lockdown” period — supposedly for a month, but judging by the widespread idiocy on social media I suspect it’s going to last for a whole lot longer than that. Still, I’m not too worried; staying inside just means more time to play games, write about them and make videos. Which means more stuff for you (yes, you) to enjoy. Also my day job paid for a nice chair, so now I have a nice chair, too.

Leaving all that aside for now, though, let’s take a look at what you might have missed in the last week!

Happy weekend, everyone! Hope you’ve all had a fine time. I’m just coming off a week off from the day job so I’ve got lots of things I actually want to do done, which is a nice feeling. Back to the daily grind tomorrow, though… boo.

There’s been some interesting stories this week, probably the most notable of which is the sordid history behind the Golden Axed prototype Sega put up on Steam for a limited period. But let’s also not forget the guy from the Google Stadia team who thought telling Twitter that streamers should pay licensing fees for the games they stream would be in any way a good idea. He’s been very quiet ever since.

Anyway, that aside, let’s check out what you might have missed in the last week!

Good morning everyone! Sorry for the lack of one of these last weekend, but I was super-busy and ended up not finding the time. You can enjoy a bumper edition today to make up for it.

Life has been continuing pretty much as usual here at MoeGamer Towers, with the Atelier MegaFeature continuing apace. We’re just wrapping up Atelier Totori on the site right now; next up is Atelier Meruru, which I’ve already finished my replay of. I’m currently enjoying Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland a great deal, and am looking forward to writing about that.

Anyway. Enough talk! Let’s see what you might have missed in the last couple of weeks.

Good evening everyone! I’ve just finished editing a monster episode of The MoeGamer Podcast, which should be with you tomorrow assuming my computer doesn’t explode overnight while rendering or anything.

I joke, but on more than one occasion I have come downstairs of a morning to discover my computer had forgotten what these mysterious things called “hard drives” or “Microsoft Windows” were, so I probably shouldn’t tempt fate. Anyway, all being well, there will be a podcast for your eyes and ears to enjoy tomorrow.

In the meantime, let’s look back at what you might have missed this week.

Morning all! We’re a day late on this today as I had a busy weekend trying to get some stuff done. Said stuff is now done, so here we are!

It’s been a retro-tastic week this week with a continuing exploration of the Evercade’s library of games, plus the launch of my Evercade A to Z video series to complement the written articles here. If you wanted to see these classic (and not-so-classic!) games in action — now you can!

Let’s take a look at what you might have missed in the last week, then. Hit the jump and let’s explore!

Around the Network (and Blogger Recognition Award!)

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you’re well. Summer appears to be back here again, which means I’ve got all the fans running and the doors open and it’s still too hot. Oh well. Only two more videos left to record today!

Today’s Around the Network also incorporates a Blogger Recognition Award that AK from Everything is Bad for You kindly nominated me for recently. For the uninitiated, this is an opportunity to engage with the broader online writing community, offer some advice and share some thoughts.

So let’s get started with that — followed, of course, by what you might have missed this week — after the jump!

Good afternoon everyone! Hope you’re having a pleasant Sunday. I stayed up much later than I should have done last night watching the debut streams for Hololive English, but I’m glad I did; the whole day was just utterly joyful.

I am suffering a little bit for it today, but at least it’s not a working day, so I can take the time to recover a bit before returning to the day job duties tomorrow. It was definitely worth it; I hope those girls have a great future ahead of them, as they were all a delight to spend time with yesterday.

Anyway, enough talk about virtual people who straddle the line between “existing” and “not really existing”, let’s take a look at what you might have missed in the last week!

Welcome, one and all, to the regular (when I remember) weekly roundup of all things from around both my own creative projects, and the broader creative community.

I’ve had a few days off from the day job this week, so I’ve been able to get well ahead of schedule with upcoming videos. If you missed the announcement on YouTube, I’ve also taken the sad but necessary step of hitting “pause” on long, multi-episode playthroughs; while I do think the Final Fantasy Marathon is a noble goal, it was just burning me out, and I’m enjoying doing the one-shot variety stuff a lot more.

I’m already feeling the benefit that taking that particular weight off my mind has provided, though, and I’m not saying long-form playthroughs will never return — just not for now. Anyway, in the meantime, let’s catch up on what you might have missed in the last week or so.

Good evening everyone, and I hope those of you in the idiot-infested United Kingdom are looking forward to a bank holiday tomorrow.

As always, there’s been plenty going on around here, and I haven’t even had to leave the house to do any of it. Just the ticket during these difficult times, I’m sure you’ll agree — so I hope the things I’ve made bring you some entertainment if you, too, have been stuck in your home.

Hit the jump and let’s catch up on what you might have missed in the last week.
