In the news this time around… not a whole lot, to be perfectly honest. Lots of release dates, but not a ton of big, new and exciting stuff to pick out — although the news that Cotton Reboot is on the way and will have a packaged release is very welcome.

This time around, Chris and I have been playing a nice mix of games; Chris has been all over Cadence of Hyrule and CrossCode, while I’ve been playing Mad Rat Dead (writeup coming soon) and Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland (likewise).

Our main discussion this time around is on the subject of the PlayStation 2, a console that few would argue was Sony’s finest hour. The damn thing turned 20 years old this year, so we thought now was as good a time as any to celebrate some of our memories of it, along with some games we found noteworthy both “back in the day” and now. For better or worse, the PlayStation 2 marked a significant turning point in gaming that led us to where we are now — and that transitional period was one of the most exciting and interesting times to be playing games.
