In today’s episode, we kick off with some news talk as usual. There’s not been a huge amount of big stuff going on, what with the whole pandemic situation making a mess of everything, but there’s certainly enough to have a bit of a chat about, including Jaleco’s back catalogue, Rogue Legacy 2SNK Gals’ Fighters and much more.

After that, we delve into what we’ve been playing recently. Chris has been thoroughly enamoured with the new “Royal” version of Atlus’ classic Persona 5, while I’ve been beavering away at Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm and Disaster Report 4.

After all that usual gubbins, we delve into the main topic for today’s episode: the art of the remake. We contemplate the various ways that developers have approached this over the years, how the concept of “the remake” is not unique to gaming by any means, the challenges that developers face — and why remakes might be desirable.

There is some Final Fantasy VII Remake talk, as you might expect given its recent release at the time of recording, but for those of a spoiler-sensitive disposition, fear not; we’re going to save the fully spoileriffic talk for a separate episode specifically on Final Fantasy VII Remake once we’ve both had the opportunity to digest things a little morehere we talk more generally about the new game’s approach to the concept of “the remake”.

Thank you, as always, for all your support — and we hope you enjoy the new episode! Please like, comment, share, subscribe, review and all that good stuff. Except the Raid: Shadow Legends referral link; we don’t have one of those. Which I’m sure everyone is absolutely fine with. I hear they pay quite well though.

Ahem. Anyway! Enjoy!
