Around the Network

Good evening boys and girls! I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. I had a busy Saturday but have spent most of today doing nothing but playing Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana, which is 100% fine by me.

I’m making good progress through the game and should have it beaten soon all being well, so then we can move on. There’s still a long road ahead of us, though — and still lots of things to talk about just with Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana by itself! — so I hope you continue to enjoy this journey as much as I am.

For now, let’s take a look at what you might have missed this week. Hit the jump to find out more.

Dig Dig Mine: Cake or Death – I had the good fortune to stumble across a talented Japanese artist who 1) draws wonderful squishy girls and 2) makes excellent NES homage games. Here’s an example of the latter.

Interspecies Reviewers, Vol. 3: Sweaty Horseplay – With the TV anime continuing to have trouble getting aired, the manga’s third volume continues to be a great way to get your interspecies kicks.

Warriors Wednesday: Finale? (Warriors All-Stars #18) – We reach an ending! Just one of them, mind, and not the “true” one, but an ending, nonetheless. Now to go do it all again!

Waifu Wednesday: Hatsune Miku – With everyone’s favourite Vocaloid getting a brand new Switch game, I thought it high time we spent some time celebrating her eternal majesty.

DEPA★PAKU: Department Store Munching – I enjoyed Dig Dig Mine so much I thought I should check out ryokuchamichi/Green Tea Area’s other work. So I did!

Final Fantasy Marathon: Oooooh, Mysidian Girl (Final Fantasy II #8) – Firion and the crew head to Mysidia in search of the Ultima Tome, but there’s some work to be done first…

Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana – The Craft of Combat The Atelier MegaFeature continues with a closer look at Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana’s combat and progression systems.

This week we’ve got a real grab mag of varied funtimes! We kick off with a type-in listing about hairy legs and page flipping, continue with an adventure through time and conclude with an all-time classic competitive multiplayer affair.

Patreon and SubscribeStar

Don’t forget that over on Patreon I post a daily behind-the scenes personal blog that is, effectively, a resurrection of my old #oneaday blog I used to host over at angryjedi.wordpress.com. At the present time, this also includes exclusive patrons-only weekly vlogs and Let’s Plays at the weekends! If you’d like to get to know me a bit better, be sure to sign up; just $1 a month (about 80p) can get you in the club, and it also provides you with access to the MoeGamer Discord as well as helping to fund and support the things I do here on the site.

I’m also in the process of getting SubscribeStar rolling for those who don’t wish to or aren’t able to use Patreon for whatever reason — I’ve had a few requests for this, so I thought I’d actually get it done. Once that’s up and running and some people have signed up, I’ll offer all the same benefits there for the same price as Patreon.

Cool Stuff By People Who Aren’t Me

First up, Patreon goodness! Right now, I’m supporting chaotic “old men attempt to talk about games, usually fail” collective Digitiser 2000, the ever-grumpy (and always hilarious) Cheap Show Podcast, gaming and gaming culture commentator Liana Kerzner, independent games writing collective The Well-Red Mage, fountain of retro computer gaming knowledge Rob “Hellfire64” Caporetto and blogger/YouTuber Megan Marie, all of whom you can find out a bit more about by clicking through to their profiles.

Here’s a selection of YouTube and podcast goodness from several of this lot:

And finally, time for a quick scoot around the WordPress community to see what’s been going on! As always, if you run a blog or know of a site you think I should be following, be sure to let me know; I get bored at my day job a lot and always welcome new reading material!

Dreamcast’s Nightmare (Kimimi the Game-Eating She-Monster) – Kimimi reminds us of something none of us want to admit: the fact that the Dreamcast doesn’t have very many worthwhile exclusives. But she also reminds us that this is 100% okay, and doesn’t make the system any less worth exploring!

5 Bloggers That Helped Me When I was Starting Out (I drink and watch anime) – I’m not just including this because Irina was kind enough to include me in this list… it’s also a lovely heartfelt piece, and an opportunity to follow some other fine people in this wonderful community!

Give it a Light Novel Title: LHs Titles for Anime! (Shallow Dives in Anime) – Fancy a fun challenge? Follow Dewbond’s lead and see if you can compose an authentic-sounding light novel-style title for your favourite anime or game.

Don’t Underestimate Your Impact on the Gaming Community (In Third Person) – Jett is a super-positive influence in the gaming and streaming communities, and his words are always worth listening to. Today he talks about how we can all have a positive impact on the community as a whole.

A Kresnik268gaming update – 4 years of posts, 8 years of Vita and future plans! (kresnik258gaming) – Kresnik is taking a well-deserved step back from things after compiling one of the most comprehensive PlayStation Vita resources on the Internet, but he’s not going away altogether; check out this post to see what he’s up to.

And that’s it for another week. As always, thank you so much for reading, supporting, sharing, liking, commenting, hitting the bell, sacrificing your first-born to me and not taking the piss out of how bad I am at Puyo Puyo. A particularly warm welcome to all the perverts who have been sending my numbers through the roof thanks to my (very NSFW) article on the delightfully filthy Hilzartov Fairy last week — I hope you stick around and find some other stuff you like here, too!

Have a lovely week, and I’ll speak to you all soon.
