Around the Network

Hello everyone! It’s been a hectic week for me this week, to say the least.

My wife Andie was rushed into hospital with suspected appendicitis early in the week, and then I came down with… something or other as a result of the stress of the whole situation combined with regular visits to A Place Full of Ill People.

Thankfully, Andie’s back home now and I think I’m mostly on the mend… so let’s take a moment to review what’s been going on this week!

Sunday Driving: Feel Nothing Without Vibration — I take a first look at Capcom’s gorgeous cel-shaded racing game Auto Modellista. There will definitely be more of that to come!

Dragalia Lost: Trick or Treasure — The recent Halloween-themed event in Dragalia Lost provided a great opportunity to get a Light team up and running… and a great example of how events in Cygames titles tend to work.

PS2 Essentials: Auto Modellista — Told you there’d be more! We take a more in-depth look at Auto Modellista… and there’ll be more video coverage of this in Sunday Driving in the coming weeks.

Warriors Wednesday: First-Time Clear — For once, I manage to make it through a Warriors Orochi battle without any embarrassing defeats! Don’t get too used to it, mind… I’ve already recorded the next episode and I know exactly how it goes!

Waifu Wednesday: Kathryn Lapucelle — The last of Evenicle’s main playable cast is the subject of this week’s Waifu Wednesday column. Kathryn may initially seem like… not an easy person to get along with, but beneath that spiky outer shell, there’s a delightful young woman to get to know.

Taiko no Tatsujin Drum ‘n’ Fun: Motion and Music Don’t Mix — I try out the demo of Bandai Namco’s upcoming Switch version of Taiko no Tatsujin Drum ‘n’ Fun and find the motion controls to be… somewhat lacking in precision. Despite this, the game is looking like a good time!

Xenon Valkyrie+: 16-Bit Procedural Platforming — Looking for a new “roguelite” to test your skills against? You could do far worse that Diabolical Mind and Cowcat Games’ excellent pixel-art platformer Xenon Valkyrie+, which recently hit PlayStation 4 and Vita.

Atari A to Z

This week we had a look at two delightfully different games: Juice! for the Atari 8-Bit is an interesting twist on the Q*Bert formula, while Eliminator for Atari ST is a technically impressive 3D shoot ’em up.

The stresses of this week unfortunately distracted me from the promised updates to Videopac Games, but rest assured, those will follow in good time now that things are settling down again a bit!

Now, it’s back to podcast editing for me…

  1. Wow, I’m sorry to hear that you have had such a stressful week. I’m glad though, that your wife is back home and on the mend. Can definitely understand how something like that could create a lot of stress. Hopefully the upcoming week will be a lot better for you both. Take care 😊

    1. Yep. A quick run through the washing machine will cure most of what ails her on any given occasion, I imagine.

Cheers. She’s on the mend slowly, it’ll be a while before she’s back to full strength but she’s getting there.
